Background
My extensive background encompasses all aspects of the web development life cycle, with a particular emphasis on scalable, high quality front-end architectures and scalable design systems; for beautiful, responsive, adaptive, and desirable user experiences.
I'm particularly adept at translating complex user needs into elegant and efficient technical solutions, all while maintaining a keen eye for aesthetic detail and user experience.
My software eye has been honed over 20 years to notice every little design detail, with the complimentary ability to go fix it in the code. There's nowhere in the codebase I'm not willing to go to ensure a quality user experience.
I've worked as a designer, 3D modeler, game engine architect, devops lead, or design manager, engineering manager, motion graphic designer, prototyper, and more; but mostly my time has been spent as a developer leading app development. With a career spanning highly visible public educational work at Google, highly visible web architecture for ESPN and Walmart, innovative leadership in startup environments, and a passion for education; I bring a unique blend of technical web expertise, meaningful product UX vision, and a thriving web community.
At Google, I contributed to projects that reached millions, gaining invaluable experience in high-performance, large-scale web applications and the particular user interface needs of the top 500 websites of the world. At Lively as the Senior Technology Lead of a cloud music startup, I led both the development of engaging user experiences across mobile, tablet and desktop and the multiple, resilient, back-end apps on AWS for admin UI's and front-end APIs, all from the ground up. While at Ratio, we built apps for any screen, making me fearless about development environments, truly focusing on whatever it takes for top notch user experience.
As an instructor at the Art Institute of Seattle, I taught designers and developers, showing my ability to clearly articulate complex concepts and mentor aspiring professionals. This educational passion also extends to my work as an online educator and influencer, where I consistently share insights and best practices with a global audience.
